Dominique Xavier Milton Williams was a bright, loving, and spirited young man whose life was tragically cut short on July 19, 2015, while visiting Coligny Beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina. At just 17 years old, Dominique’s light was taken far too soon. A loss that deeply impacted his family, friends, and an entire community.
Out of unimaginable grief came a call to action. Dominique’s father, Leroy Williams, and his bonus mom, Olga Williams, recognized the urgent need for safe spaces, positive mentorship, and meaningful opportunities for young people to grow beyond violence, anger, and despair. They believed that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported , and that Dominique’s life and dreams deserved to live on through purpose-driven work.
On what would have been Dominique’s 18th birthday , July 10, 2016 , Leroy and Olga gathered family and friends and officially founded Dominique’s World. What began as a moment of remembrance became a movement dedicated to inspiring hope, empowering youth, and igniting purpose in the next generation.
Today, Dominique’s World continues his legacy through mentorship, community engagement, creative expression, and supportive programs that uplift young lives and strengthen families. Dominique’s story reminds us that even in loss, there can be light, leadership, and lasting impact , and that one life can help change many.
